A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that Canadian employers may need before hiring a foreign worker. It is issued by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), it ensures the hire will not negatively affect the local labour market. LMIAs allow foreign workers to work in Canada for up to six months.
